Ramblings... Part 1
May. 15th, 2005 06:28 pmIt's been said not often enough that scientists are trying to learn what the mystics already know. Inside the molecule we found the atom. Inside the nucleus we found sub-atomic particles. Inside them we found quarks. Ions. Tachyons. Broken participles. It goes on and on. All the beauty of the universe is based around smaller and smaller objects whipping about something central in little, itty bitty circles.
Somewhere since the beginning of time (is it even necessary to have a beginning?) we came up with the idea that only one side can be right. There are more than three types of truths out there. I'm going to briefly define each one right here. Physical truth. The things that are observable - such as Newton's Laws of Physics. This isn't quite interchangeable with current scientific theory based on the acceptance of various and conflicting theories that are battling for popular support and dominance. And if you think for a minute that theories aren't politically motivated, in some form or another, then ignore the states that teach Creationism over the Big Bang in public (non-religous) schools. Boolean Truth: Only one result may be correct. All other results are false. If you want, we'll play a game of ones and zeros because that's what computers use. Objective truth: What we use when considering a number of alternatives before making a decision - the acceptance that more than one side can be right, even if two or more them appear to conflict on the surface. This acceptance has some limitations.
I'm off to go clean the barracks. I'll continue this later tonight or tomorrow at a later time.
