Until this little petition reaches 150 signatures, it won't be quickly viewable at whitehouse.gov for other people to sign, except by direct link.  Here's Rand Paul vs John McCain on the Senate floor about S. 1867:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpfS62zrmAQ - John McCain enters at 13:35.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXbwmqq-6Y4 - here's later in the same debate where McCain infers that anyone who is a threat, citizen or not, should be detained and stands by his bill.  I appreciate his sentiment, but I think the approach is nothing short of entirely wrong.

I hope that when they form their General Assembly, that they prepare to write each of these as individual bills.  I, for one, do not see the benefit in some of the changes that they're demanding.  However, I'll go through the list of grievances and write down my thoughts.

I'm sorry, I've known for a long time you can travel with a gun (though you have to check the bolt of the gun, or all sorts of other limitations) at airports. With Atlanta now making it completely illegal to possess any gun, except for TSA, gun owners have lost the right to be on airport premises with a weapon, and will be charged with a misdemeanor if caught.

Also, since something like this has happened, what happens to all those travelers who follow federal regulations and, while passing through ATL, get charged with a misdemeanor? I think it means anyone passing through there can no longer carry a weapon (but I may be reading into this too much)...

EDIT: My little birdie says that oil will cost over $100 per barrel sometime in 2008 - six years and a 500% increase in price.
