In a matter of hours....
Feb. 7th, 2005 12:40 amI will be on a plane going to visit my family - and attempting to not go broke doing so. Gotta love having lots of friends in lots of places, who are willing to put me up for a night. I'll be roaming through six cities, seeing a bunch of people in each, and meeting many more.
I just felt the compunction to post here... and also wonder when I'll ever get that darned gallery to work on my website, along with a few other things.
I spent one day, while in PLDC discussing the life and times of SPC Lau, a late friend of mine who tragically passed away last year. The memory of the last time I saw her is burned into my mind, as well as the memory of seeing a conference room in my brigade's headquarters named after her.
I wrote an epitaph when I had my old website up, and if I do manage to dredge it up, I will. It's weird though. Just because I was two time-zones away when she died, and missed the funeral and memorial services by more than a month (I was away for awhile), and now I begin thinking about her because this is the first time I'm leaving Georgia since it happened, and unlike before, I am leaving by choice.
I am not haunted by her memory, and am glad to have known her. Taps would've played during it's regularily scheduled time a couple hours ago, but from where I am sitting now, there is no possibility that I could hear it. Anyhow, I'm off to finish packing, and get ready for the plane trip.
I'll see you all again in a couple of weeks - with the exception of those whom I'm visiting, of course. Speaking of which, if we haven't already exchanged phone numbers, please contact me either by email, or by commenting here, and we'll get everything exchanged.
