It's the little print that kills ya, ya know?

So, my Army Retirement will be $1,216/mo.
My VA Disability will be $974/mo.

Conventional math and common sense dictate that I should be bringing in $2,190/mo right? Glad to know I worked for an unconventional government. You see, my VA Disability gets deducted from my retirement pension. So, I actually get paid a total of $1,216/mo. $974 from the VA, and the remainder from the Army.

I cannot count on Social Security to approve my disability claim (~$1,100/mo), if they say 'no', by the time they say 'no', I'll be broke. So. Job hunting must ensue. If any of you Portlanders know your HR people, and they're looking for someone experienced with Satellite Communications, Administration/Clerk Stuff, Human Resources or Management, please introduce me.

The reason why I'm going after friends first, is that according to the Department of Labor, 70% of jobs are found through friends and family. 15% of jobs are found through recruiters. The remaining 15% is a mix of applications, resumes, online/offline placement services, etc et al. I'd like to get the biggest bang for my buck.

Don't worry. When I turn 65, I have a whole 'nother rant. While serving in the military, I pay in to Social Security. As a retiree, when my normal Social Security kicks in, my retirement pay is docked an amount equal to Social Security. As in: I get no added benefit when I turn 65 - the Army (or any military service), just finds a different part of the government to pay the bill. Is it just me or is there a recurring theme here?
