Or maybe, tomorrow afternoon. Hell, who knows.

The 30-40 pileup on I-70 on December 23rd that prevented me from making my initial flight home on leave took five lives. As crazy as this break was for me, perhaps it was best for me to find out about my friend Sergeant First Class Henry after I got back.

As it is, I found out about this today. Hell, he was the only Combat Engineer who managed to make my email work when it was acting funky - even for me. He will be missed. Tomorrow, when they do roll call... I only hope that I will have a voice with which to respond when they call my name.

He and I never spent too much time together - never went to the pub for a beer, or anything like that. However, he was one of those with almost a magical personality to cause every moment trading war stories, fixing computers, or taking care of soldiers that caused any time spent with him to be truly special. Never was there a wasted moment; yet regardless of what was going on around us, he always had time to fix problems - technical, professional, or personal. He did so without regard and was unselfish in applying his style of 'problem solving'.

He is the eighth friend of mine who, since August 2003 I've written a eulogy. Of course, the eulogy tomorrow will be done by someone else. Sergeant Henry, you will be missed. May you find yourself surrounded by the best of all things in the ages to come.
