Encounter with Jakkal...
Mar. 16th, 2007 12:07 amWell, not Jakkal at all - but someone very much like what she writes parodies of IM conversations about. I'll keep the name anonymous, because I still think I possess some shred of respect for him somewhere. Where I misplaced it I don't know though.
When it comes to artists, we all take what we do very, very personally. When that artwork is in the realm of a roleplaying system of my own creation (with the help a number of contributors), I don't take demeaning criticism well. Especially when someone holds D&D in a higher light.
Anyhoo, I'm writing to get this off of my back. When you're in a roleplaying game, and someone has taken the 8-10 hours of editing time to provide a set of rules that is current with what is in play, created your character with you, etc; then you should be at least familiar with the rules (or your character sheet), if not both, when you get into gaming.
If you fail to do both of those things, then there's no wonder when you're spending five minutes trying to figure out what to roll and not asking anyone what they should be rolling (and not asking for help).
Anyhow, now that I've written about it a bit, it should theoretically be off of my back.
