Effing done.
TPRS can go straight to the wastebasket. So can Silo 17, and my chat room users. My chat users were adamant about leaving chat.psionics.net. Great. To help me, they burned any bridges that I had with Bynw and the IRCOps, whether or not there were any competency issues to be handled. And, it was so horrible there, that they endured it for almost a full year of gaming.
So, we move to a new server, I acted as the middleman between Kras and Lupin to setup the IRC leaf server (to also serve as a backup to Serenity, in case Kai's DSL ever goes down again), and the first thing that happens is that I get criticized for not making everyone an op. Well, this goes into a second long and drawn out discussion (the first was about leaving psionics.net), about opping people. So, I go and op everyone in the room. And the members that were 'new' to the room I've known in IRC and on the internet for 2-3 years. So, I op them too. And this apparently cause for criticism. Because they'd been in the room for less than a week. So, apparently it's their choice on whether to op someone.
I was critized for making a breach of trust by not opping someone well known in the room, but apparently would not be committing the same breach of trust when opping members who I've known for a time span that far outweighs the life of the room. Fine. I'll take the problem out of the equation by leaving myself.
This might be temporary, this might be permanent. If it's permanent, I'll aslo stop paying rent on the server. I'm tired of having my friends judged and told who is to be my friend and have access to what and who isn't. They're a community, they can survive without my presence.
EDIT: There are things that I can do other than running Silo 17. Things my time is better spent doing.
