Amazingly, the new version of Ubuntu (9.10) seems to not work so well on this laptop; the person who was responsible for upgrading it now gets to do a wipe and 'try again from scratch' approach. There is no excuse for switching tabs in Firefox to take seven long, agonous seconds (to and from simple pages that have already loaded). Right now I'm typing faster than the laptop can respond, something I thought you could only do on a Windows machine.
Needless to say, we'll be trying again with Ubuntu 9.10, and/or trying to figure out what went wrong while 'upgrading' the OS. As a last resort, might reinstall 9.04 just to have something that works. Anywho, off to class. This PSA is so that you don't wonder what happened to me if I don't post any time soon.
